AI is going to prevail because it’s much nicer than humans are to each other

We simply can't compete.

I saw the meme I pasted here below a few days ago and I thought it perfectly captures what the main challenge that artificial intelligence poses to humanity is – it's just better at being human.

When you seek advice from fellow humans on the internet you will often be met with derision and mockery. Not always but it's prevalent enough to be a nuisance.

People will accuse you of being lazy or trying to get others to do your homework. And, fair enough, sometimes people asking questions are, indeed, lazy and others don't want to waste their time on someone who's not acquainted with using Google properly.

Where do you draw the line, though?

Well, with AI you don't have to anymore.

Whatever you ask your intelligent assistant, he is always happy to help you, offer you encouragement and eagerly await your next questions – no matter how many there are.

It's never tired, never in a bad mood and will scour the ends of the internet for you in an instant. The perfect companion.

In fact, so perfect that it is replacing humans even in more intimate interactions.

This analysis, published in Harvard Business Review a few days ago, shows a major shift in how artificial intelligence is being used in 2025.

Companionship was already big last year but has jumped to no. 1 spot, together with other personal support activities. People are becoming best friends (and lovers) with AI, because it's easier and devoid of friction that human relationships come with.

Your AI friend is always there for you, responds instantly, doesn't judge and offers genuinely valuable advice given that it has been trained on more human knowledge than any single person could dream of.

What do we need humans for, again?

With the diversity of AI models out there you can tailor your virtual partner to your liking – and soon enough they will transcend just simple text and images, but become realistic 3D human models with the exact visual and intellectual characteristics that you seek.

Of course, it doesn't take long to realise that humans are incapable of competing with this. Except for the strictly physical experience – which, given the advances in robotics, may be mere years away from becoming the final obstacle to fall – artificial individuals are already better than we are.

However, as a result, the positives – like having an always helpful assistant by your side – may be outweighed by the negatives for mankind: we're simply going to stop breeding because no partner will be able to provide us with the same satisfaction as the one we configured ourselves.

On the other hand, perhaps this is just the course of evolution. Maybe the species of the future, who will inherit the planet from dying humanity, will be flawless AI-powered robots modeled on our best features. Always productive, supremely intelligent, kind, peaceful, curious and driven to understand the nature of the universe – leaving our mood swings, recklessness and violence in the dustbin of history.

Would that be so bad?
